Chalkboard

I made a Chalkboard Menu about a year ago, but it broke about four months ago. It fell off my counter when you puppies were running through the house :(

I have been looking for the perfect frame to make another chalkboard but haven't came across one I liked. When choosing your picture frame, make sure you choose a picture that has a wooden picture, not cardboard!

Finally last Thursday I was in the Christian Mission and I found a frame that would work!! Yay!

The Supplies: Picture, White primer/spray paint, chalkboard paint, and foam brushes.

Wipe down frame, and sand if necessary.

Then I took mine outside to paint it. I misplaced my drop cloths so...I just laid down two trash bags, its bobo I know.

This is after my first coat of spray paint.

Let it dry and then apply second coat.

While your second coat of white spray paint is drying, take out the picture (do this before you spray paint!! I didn't and it was a huge mess)  and begin painting with the chalkboard paint.

This paint is really thick!

I applied two coats of the chalkboard paint, to make sure it was completely covered.

Once everything was dry I put it back together and hung it in our kitchen!

You should wait about 72 hours before you draw anything on your chalkboard. Before you draw you have to "season" your chalkboard. Just rub a piece of chalk all over it!! And then wipe away with a DRY cloth.

After you have wiped it clean, create your own masterpiece!!

Candy Bouquet

Have you seen these on Pinterest, well I have been wanting to make one for a while...sooo
I decided to make one for my father-in-law's. BUT I didn't think liquor was appropriate, so instead I went the candy route.
Men don't care for flowers so....for our 17th wedding anniversary, I decided to make a bouquet of cigars and liquor for Sam. I think he's going to love it;) Men don't care for flowers so....for our 17th wedding anniversary, I decided to make a bouquet of cigars and liquor for Sam. First I used floral foam and made sure the bottom of my pot was covered. I had to cut and wedge some pieces in there.

Next take your candy and add a little hot glue!

Then add you dowel or skewer

AND place the candy into the floral form, arrange strategically.

Next I added a ribbon!

And a bow!

It's a fun way to give candy as a gift (and it's cheap)!!  BONUS my father-in-law loved it!

Football Door Hanger

A few months ago I decided I wanted a  burlap door hanger, and because they were selling from anywhere for $25-$50, I decided I would just make one myself.  Well I tried to make a S(our last name)...AND I failed miserably. Burlap: 1, Lindsey: 0.
Then a couple of weeks later my sister-in-law made a really cute cross. Here is her version!

Well a few months have passed and my ego has healed a little, so here we go round 2!

Supplies:
1 yard of burlap
parchment paper
sharpie
paint
sewing machine
ribbon
floral wirer
walmart bags
colored wirer

First I made a template so that it would not be a total debacle this time around. Also we are making a football. I used parchment paper because it was all I had around.

Step 1: fold paper into four sections
 Once folded...
Draw a line from corner to corner and cut!
Once cut it will look like a football(I forgot to photograph this step)
Then cut out two footballs, they should be the same size!

Step 2: Paint, this is the fun part. Get Creative!!
 WAR EAGLE!!

Once your paint is dry, it is time to sew!

Step 3: Get both footballs and sew them together. Make sure to leave one end of the football open so you can stuff it!

Step 4: Stuff your football. I stuffed mine with walmart bags because it will be hanging outside and I didn't want it get gross.

Here is my football after it has been stuffed and sewn up, it's a little lopsided on the left side....so what better than to camouflage it than with a bow.

Step 5: Making a bow!
First fold a 7/8 inch ribbon. You should have two loops
Next pinch and wrap with floral wirer.

Then take 5/8 inch ribbon and fold it into 4 loops.

Pinch and wrap with the remaining floral wire from the first bow. Once secured I wrapped a little orange ribbon around the bow, so you could not see the floral wirer.
Add a couple of long ribbon of varying lengths and attach to the back of the football

TA-DA pretty bow to cover up lopsided football!!

Step 6: Attached colored wire. This is the final step in the project! Attach the wire from the back and create a cute spiral to keep it in place. You will need to attach it in two places on your football!
I got this wire from walmart in the craft section, it was only a dollar. SCORE!

Happy Fall Y'all and War Eagle!

SUNBURST MIRROR

I made this soo long ago. It has been completed, photographed, and hanging up in our house since summer. So with out further ado my Sunburst Mirror

 Supplies:
Hot Glue, Mirror, Wooden Dowels

This Sunburst Mirror is pretty simple, just get your dowels and start hot gluing.

After I finished the first circle, I decided I wanted it to look fuller. So I added the second circle.

I just hot glued on the second layer on the edge of the mirror...

The semi-finished product. I wanted to paint it black because it was going it our guest bedroom.

I used Rustoleum black spray paint. So before I painted I had to tape up the mirror.

Next I took it outside with a drop cloth and began spraying!
Once the first coat is dry (it takes about 2 hours), I applied the second coat.

YAY the finished product and now it's hang proudly in our guest bedroom!!
